December 2012

 

I didn’t add any more birds to my year list in December, so I finished the year at 505 species, of which 118 were lifers.  It was another fun year of birding, with the Texas trip in April/May being the highlight.

 

In 2013 I plan to bird on the West Coast and also take a 6 ½ week trip to Australia in Sep/Oct/Nov, and I expect to exceed that total of 505 species for the year.  I’ll never again get 118 lifers in a year, though; I’ve just seen too many species now here at home and in Australia, and I don’t expect to ever take any trips to new places, where I could get a significant number of new lifers.
